 John DuBose, woodwind specialist has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina.  Post graduate studies were conducted at Clemson University and New Jersey City University, formerly Jersey City State College. A native of South Carolina, John began playing professionally at the age of 13 with jazz musician and educator, Leon Harvey, tenor saxophonist.  At Benedict, he studied classical music with the renowned Dr. Walter Yeh, Flutist of the China Conservatory of Music and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.  In addition to this undergraduate studies, he played the southeastern college circuit with numerous funk and R&B bands.
 
In the 1970's he moved to New York City and performed with such artist as Cannonball Adderly, Donald Bryd and Tommorrow's Edition.  He's worked as a studio musician, playing alto, tenor, soprano saxophones and flute.  In addition to his own bands, DuBose & Company and Good Company, he has worked with Full Circle, Black Widow, Majestic K Funk, Cashmere, Brother's Keeper, Leon and Waterfront Band and Press J Five bands!  John is also a full-time instrumental music teacher with the Jersey City Board of Education for 29 years.
